Red and Green Peacock...The Library Challenge #1~Pride and Prejudice

A new, ingenious BOOK-THEMED challenge has arrived in town and is making its debut today: The Library Challenge. The mastermind behind the cover is my lovely Inkspirational teammate, Marina, from My Perfect Life.

Here's the scoop on how to play along, which I've lifted from the blog...pure plagiarism...but I want to be sure the details are 100% correct:

If you love reading – or just looking at book covers – this challenge is for you.  Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by :
The cover
The title
The Story

Challenge #1 is a well-loved classic : Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

You can be inspired by the:

Cover - for example the peacock, the colour combo, the layout (use it like a sketch?).
Title - What do the words Pride or Prejudice mean to you? How about a card to tell someone you're proud of them? Or a layout featuring your pride and joy?
Story - Any project on the theme of romance could work.

Most clever ideas, right?! Right!

My card is a full-on literal (sorry...had to) interpretation of the cover, featuring my Hero Arts Layered peacock, sporting his stylish red-and-green feathers. I 'feel' like I should add more to the background, but in keeping with the image, I opted to go with clean and simple...

Ideas for a second card already percolating. Come play along; this is going to be FUN!

You're the Coolest...Just Us Girls Challenge #324~Berry, Turquoise and Kraft (or tan)

Definitely feeling better - thank you for all your well-wishes! - but continuing to indulge in cozying up under my quilt on the couch. There's Olympics to be watched...and yes, I dare say I'm 'this close' to winning a gold medal in laziness!  The weather - snow, melt, rain, freeze, snow more, melt more, freeze more - has made the sidewalks/roads icy-treacherous. So...yet another justification for staying inside. Time for Spring to spring!

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #428~Colour Week, where our delightful, talented Angie has selected Turquoise, Berry and Kraft for our palette. Pretty, but a bit tricky for my recuperating mojo...

We're excited that Tenia Nelson, from Jazzy Paper Designs, is joining us as again this week, with a card we know you'll adore. My teammates have some incredible inspiration happening, too; please drop by their places and leave them a comment to brighten their day: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria.

As 'tempted' as I was to go with flowers for this challenge, I did not. cream all the way! Blueberry (or blue moon, if you prefer) and raspberry, to be specific...Yumm!

So lucky to have won a Reverse Confetti giveaway from my sweet friend, Leigh Penner, a while back, which means these sweet treats - along with several more - have joined my collection. Looking forward to playing with the other goodies...donuts, anyone? Maybe pie?....

Looking forward to seeing your *turquoise, berry and kraft* creations in the gallery!

Long weekend here in Canada and, I believe, in the US, as well! Enjoy, immensely!

Bear on a Bike...Inspired by All the Little Things Challenge #79, TIME OUT Challenge #103~Hobbies, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge~Add a Die Cut

Popping in, between Olympic events/commercials (currently watching speed skating, which is quite the intense sport, indeed!), to share this card...

My cycling bear was inspired by two challenges: the first, from the image....

Inspired by All the Little Things Challenge #79 (sparked by the bike, colours, brick wall, "love"...because I LOVE bikes...)

and the second, for the theme.

Many of you know that from May through November, one of my past-times/hobbies/passions is my role as a Provincial A bike racing official (aka: commissaire) in the disciplines of road racing (including road events spanning up to 130km; criteriums, which are sketch-fest circuit races; and time-trials, which are fixed distance events), mountain bike racing and cyclo-cross racing (which are hot hot hot in the Fall here, in the US and, especially, in Europe).  I LOVE bike races, even though I do NOT race. The cycling shoes being clipped into pedals...a sound that gives me a thrill, even after all these years. I'm hoping, at some point, to elevate to a National level in Road or 'cross...Anyway, excited for the season to being; bring on the bikes! Yayyyyy....

UNIKO Studio 6th Birthday TREASURE HUNT!!

Are you watching the Olympics? The opening ceremonies...oh my! Sensational! And yes, cheering on Canadian athletes in their various competitions. Still sickly, but at least watching those 'in shape' makes me feel sort of better! Speaking of 'feeling better'....

I'm so thrilled to be joining my wonderful Uniko team in welcoming you to the Uniko 6th Birthday Celebration Treasure Hunt!

Over 6 years, Uniko has produced 104 (not including 2018s) clear stamp sets, many of which are as popular today as they were when first released. Talk about timeless products, right?

Today, the Design Team and a couple of 'special guests' have created a FUN clear stamp set treasure hunt blog hop for you to join. Are you excited? I am!

Here's how it works:

  • Each of us was allocated a stamp set from some point between 2012 - 2017.
  • In our posts, we will mention both the NAME of the set and the YEAR that it launched.
  • Eleven of us are participating in the hop; ONE Design Team member has created 2 projects using 2 clear stamp sets from the six years.
  • This means that YOU need to find 2 clear stamp sets from each of the 6 years. Easy peasy!
  • Once you've found your 'treasure' items, include them in a list, which you'll submit via email, in a format similar to the sample below:
2012 Pure Florals: Poinsettia / Pure Florals: Gerbera
2013 Background Builders: Round In Circles
2014 Explosion!
2014 Balloon Bash
2016 Originally Organic
2017 Reach For The Stars

EMAIL your answers to by 9am GMT Sunday 18th February 2018. You will then be entered into a prize draw.

What are the Prizes, you ask?  Bev will randomly select THREE winners from all the correct entries that name 6 clear stamp sets from each year (2012-2017), to receive an in stock clear stamp set of their choosing.

She will also randomly select ONE lucky winner to receive a £60 eGift Certificate to spend in the Uniko store to those who name and email all 12 clear stamp sets from each of the 6 years!

Ready to go hopping & hunting!  Excellent!

As I've mentioned far too often, I've been side-lined by the flu, but I found energy to create a simple little Birthday number, featuring the lovely Flower Power #4 set.  These stamps from 2014 are ultra sweet, and made all the more versatile in now having companion dies so you can place the sweet blooms here...or there...or anywhere!

Here's the hop order...ENJOY!

You Make My Heart Smile....Inkspirational Challenge #154~Designers' Choice: Aperture

Thank you to all who have sent hugs, positive vibes and well-wishes as I wrestle with the flu. Feeling a snippet better, thanks to my husband's insistence that I take it easy. I'm listening (for once!)

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #154~Designer's Choice, where our charming Kylie is inviting us to use an *Aperture* - window/opening - on our card. Maybe shaker comes to mind, hmmmm? Perhaps a frame? Whatever aperture signals to you, works for us! Bring 'em on!

Please welcome our Guest Designer, Jen, whose lovely Spring-themed aperture card is sure to stave off the winter chills (we're still well in the vise of cold weather: yesterday we 'bottomed out' at minus 44C!). My wonderful team - Shauna, Kylie, Sandie, Marina, Nonni and Yvonne - have designed lovely inspiration pieces as well; please leave them some love if you have a chance.

In addition to our challenge, I was also inspired by the Stained Glass Hearts Challenge over at FUSION.
I used Concord & 9th's Heartstrings die, cutting it on a white cardstock panel, then filled the 'apertures' created with a rainbow of cardstock snippets. A generous slathering with my Tonic Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen came next, as a nod to the stainglass effect. This pen is certainly different than Wink of Stella in being very very shimmery, but the brush seems to be really stiff. A bit of a learning curve, I guess. That sparkle is yummy, though...

Hard to see but the white panel is 'popped up' as a stylized 'window' opening.
